ACHIEVEMENT VOCATIONAL CENTER:

The national unemployment rate for working-age adults with autism is reported to be between 75-90%. In an effort to fill the gap of the very limited services available to adults on the autism spectrum after high school, the Achievement Vocational Center was opened in 2011 to address the employment and life skills needs of this under-served population. Our goal is to help individuals affected by autism and similar disabilities receive the employability skills, job development services, and job coaching support to prepare for, find and maintain a job.

Employment-Readiness Training Class is an 8-week class that provides our students with the tools they will need to recognize their job-related strengths and talents, and search for and maintain employment. Because their struggles to attain or maintain a job is due more to of a lack of social skills rather than the ability to perform the work, social skills in the workplace in emphasized throughout our classes.

Job Development and Job Coaching Services - As a provider of the State of Nevadaís Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation, we provide job search assistance and on-the-job supports.

ASPERGERíS SYNDROME/HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISM SUPPORT GROUP:

Realizing that autism affects the entire family and is a life-long disability, since 2002 the support group has provided support and information to families and adults on the spectrum through monthly support group meetings, resources, and a hotline.
